Services that come to the home (VHA)
Home-Based Primary Care
A VA team visits veterans who have a hard time traveling to the clinic. Ask the local VA medical center social worker.
Purchased skilled care / homemaker
VA may arrange nursing or aide help at home when it is medically needed. This is services — not cash.
Geriatrics & extended care
Ask for “Geriatrics and Extended Care” at the VA. That office knows community adult day, respite, and nursing options.
Money for care (VBA)
VA pension + Aid & Attendance
A needs-based pension for wartime veterans (or surviving spouses) who need help with daily activities, are mostly bed-bound, are in a nursing home, or have very limited vision. Amounts change each year. Apply through VA — beware of companies that charge big fees to “guarantee” it.
Official Aid & AttendanceFamily caregiver stipend (PCAFC)
Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers can pay a stipend and offer respite and training when the veteran meets rating and care-need rules. Apply with VA Form 10-10CG.

Free help filing. In Ohio, start with the county veterans office — they do this every week.
State property tax
Many states reduce property tax for disabled veterans or surviving spouses. Rules differ by county.
